The Marketplace being put to good use

17th Oct 2022

For the past couple of weeks for the month of September Tara has been coming into Saint Mary's Parochial school to do drama. Third class to sixth class participated. Her lessons were in the senior room. The topic that we were exploring was the marketplace being refurbished. The council wanted new shops and we had to set up shops. The council were looking for people to rent the buildings and open new shops.

The first week we made posters and we designed our shop’s window and interior. We mapped out the layout of our shop. We thought of the name for our shop and the name is the TTNB it stands for treats tourism no bullies.

The second week the inspectors came in to see was it safe and healthy for the staff and customers to go to. There were three inspectors altogether. The inspectors found that it was safe for staff and customers to go to.

On Wednesday we opened, loads of customers came in to me and my friend's shop. We charged €20 for a membership per month.

It was the third week and drastic measures came about- budget cuts at the marketplace! A news reporter came in to do a story on us. All the shop owners founded a charity and it was called Save The Marketplace.

Nowadays, all the shops are loved by the community.
