St Mary’s Parochial School Celebrate the Harvest Festival
Last Sunday 25th of September, St. Mary’s Parochial National School celebrated the Harvest at Old St. Mary’s Church. To help the less fortunate, it was decided to gather as much fruit and vegetables as possible throughout the week. The entrance and the altar were decorated bountifully and beautifully with stacks of this seasons produce. There was a wonderful procession of thanksgiving that was then presented to Mr Daniel Fleming at the altar on Sunday. An abundance of fresh fruit, vegetables and other produce was presented, with many of the food grown and produced by members of the school community. The pupils read their prayers explaining the Harvest. There was colouring of Bible stories for the children to complete. There were much welcome refreshments along with delicious home cooking and baking to enjoy afterwards.
This was a big effort and could not have been done without the help of the entire school community with teaching and admin staff, pupils, parents and members of the board of management lending a helping hand to make the day enjoyable and a resounding success. A grateful thank you to Bernard who helped in transporting the wonderful food to Clonmel Community Kitchen and Marian Court Day Care Centre in Clonmel town. Well done to all involved!
