We had a delightful workshop from artist Marina Levitina, a Heritage in Schools specialist. She introduced us to several native Irish wildflowers and trees. We learned about the traditions of the Hawthorn Tree in May and we tied ribbons to our own apple tree in the school garden. We also heard Meadowsweet and Dandelion sing! Marina explained that each plant has its own song and she connected up a 'Music of the Plants' machine so we could hear their tunes! We then learned to draw meadowsweet, oak leaves and dandelion. It was a compelling workshop showcasing our Irish flora and folklore.
