Cobbing with Brigid
Pupils worked together as one collaborative group to express their ideas in designing a new structure for the school garden. They designed on paper, then they worked in groups with clay to create innovative designs, making 3d models. Pupils then moved outdoors and began to learn the skill of cobbing - creating their own building material from subsoil, sand, water and straw. They dug out a foundation, physically made cob and built an interactive structure for the garden, which is a culmination of all their ideas. This was an amazing innovative art project to be part of, lots of physical learning for our pupils - a special thank you to Brigid for immersing us into her creative world! |
